Virtual Museum Tours

THIS WEEK celebrates International Museum Day and while we currently can’t visit our local favourites, museums around the world are offering virtual tours.

Check out a few of our favourites…

British Museum
Opening in 1759 the British Museum proudly declared themselves as a place for ‘all studious and curious persons’ and by using Google Street View you can fulfil your studious and curious side with a bespoke virtual tour. Visiting more than 60 galleries see highlights like the Rosetta Stone in the Egyptian Sculpture Gallery or discover gems like the beautiful textiles in the Sainsbury African Galleries.

The Broad
Based in downtown L.A, this museum is home to a twinkling and reflective abyss called the ‘Infinity Mirrored Room.’ Normally you only get to spend 45-seconds in this room but now thanks to a series of videos you can spend how long you like in there! Set to a spacey soundtrack the videos pair the installation with ambient music to help you experience the immersive environment of light and sound.

Museum of Broken Relationships
Take a virtual tour over in Croatia at this poignant museum. Taking a nostalgic look at old flames, each item represents the donor’s ex and the stories behind them, ranging from uplifting tales to heart-breaking accounts. Winning the most innovative and daring museum project, items range from belly button lint which details a tumultuous relationship to 2 Claddagh rings that span 15 years and four countries.
