Artwork Builds Bridges

THREE overhead bridges have been transformed into stunning public art at Wellington Square.

The service bridges across Stockton’s outdoor shopping centre beautifully depict three iconic bridges that span the River Tees – The Infinity Bridge, The Millennium Bridge and Victoria Bridge.

The illustrations have been created by Abby+Owen, a Stockton based creative company run by Abby Taylor and Owen Smith.

The couple who are building on their growing reputation were delighted to have been appointed to produce the artwork for the bridges.

Abby said: “Stockton is our home and to have been given this opportunity to reflect on the beauty of the area by creating some permanent artwork is an incredible privilege.

“We’re truly humbled to have been a part of producing this artwork for the town by the team at Wellington Square who in these difficult times see the true value of the arts.”

Manager of Wellington Square, which commissioned the work, Matt Boxall said: “We believe that improving the environment will make it a more attractive proposition for businesses to relocate from Castlegate and for shoppers when they visit.”
